Knossos 

Knossos

Located in central Crete, 8hrs by boat from the port of Piraeus, or 35 minutes by plane from Athens.
 
The capital of the Minoan civilization. Along with the city of Phaistos, it is one of the best preserved examples of Minoan art. Believed to have been destroyed by the Thira volcano explosion.
